Ilithi- Murder, Mourning- and Revenge!
(35 Akroeg 376)
Last night was a terrible night for Ilithi- and last night all of Elanthia suffered a great loss which I fear wil become even more apparent as time goes on.
It was the 32nd day of the 1st month of Akroeg the Ram, in the year of the Emerald Dolphin, 376. Many of us watched the Ferdahl via Shadewatch mirror as Raenilar and assorted of his people cold-bloodedly told her how they were going to kill her. We did our best to try to get to her to get her out of the Outcast’s clutches, but there was no way into their camp. She was moved through a moongate to the Great Tower, courtesy of the Votary Wyren. We locked a beam on another person who was within the city at the time and tried to get to her. Time and again our forces were thrown off, decimated. We withdrew to try to regroup and to get our own warriors back on their feet.
It was too late.
As we were recovering we continued to watch events through the mirror. Jomay took an especial pleasure in gloating over the Ferdahl. But Kukalakai never flinched, not even when Raenilar showed her the knife he was going to use to kill her. He said that he regretted that the action must occur, but it was necessary before he could build what he decided was a new, better, Ilithi.
I personally doubt the regret part- Some days before I tried to win a release for the Ferdahl. The results speak for themselves.
Anyway- He then put the blade to her throat- and pushed in. He didn’t hesitate. Nor did he so much as bat an eyelash when she slumped to the floor and off of his knife. Nor did he show any expression as her meteor crossed the sky. The one thing I will say for him is that he didn’t object when his bard wanted to give her a decent burial, rather than just leaving her laying on the floor.
We were all grief-striken. The Tower Guard Yoneimo did his best to follow her- but there was no lack of healers and clerics willing to make the sacrifices needed to keep him alive so he might avenge his Ferdahl. Afterwards we gated him to Kuniyo’s Shrine and supplied him with the appropriate sacrifices for the god.
Lady Edenlaen was in shock and did not wish to leave Ilithi- but there was no need to keep her where the Outcasts could get at her again. She was gated to Zoluren.
Aid has been promised from the north. Prince Vorclaf is too late to save the Ferdahl Kukalakai. But at least he can avenge her- and us.
