The Wheel Turns Once More
(Crossing, Zoluren: 0 Akroeg 358)
“Demrris told us before he left
A promise of a life beyond our deaths
The Great Old One must have known
That the world is too wide for one life alone”
“So though this soul goes to Tenemlor
Soon it shall return to us once more
Passing from her blessed home
Back to the plains with us it will roam”
“And wander the forests and drink down the wind
And sing this song with us again.
And when the wheel has turned once more,
It will hear this song, as it did before.”
“Hear us, hear us, hurry along,
Take your rest, but don’t stay long.
For leaves fall to ground and nourish the tree
The leaves come back, and so shall we!”
I have been hearing this song more than I would wish as of late. The Prydaen sing this as mourning to a fallen comrad. Just today I heard it once again as an assasin struck down the elder Prydaen, Felinda, as well as two of her “kits.” Felinda did not walk, but one of the younger Prydaen was not as lucky.
The assasination attempts seem to have become more frequent after the invasion. Prydaen have been struck down near their new hub in the dense forests west of the Crossing. People fear change, and are lashing out against the refugees to satisfy thier own prejudice.
Just as the situation with the L’karm, people are begining to form groups to protest the arrival of the four races. I fear this is only the begining.
