Small Gorbesh Force Attacks Crossing
(Crossing, Zoluren: 62 Ka’len 356)
It began when dark clouds floated in from the west and blocked the afternoon sun. There was a slight rumble in the ground as though the Elanthia itself was moaning. The wind picked up slightly.
Then the dark clouds massed together in odd shapes as though in some odd dance.
There was a voice in my head that seemed to be trying to speak, but I couldn’t quite make out what it was saying. Again, a voice in my head tried to talk, but all I could make out was a raspy whisper.
The ground rumbled again and dark clouds formed a single mass and moved in the direction of the Crossing.
The voice in my head spoke again but this time it was clear, "Come my children. Come to the darkness."
I felt a tearing in my soul. Something was pulling me, but something was telling me to stay away. A knot began to form in my stomach as I realized the voices I could hear had a strange control over me.
The very ground seemed to weep!
And then they invaded in Crossing. It was nothing new but it was disturbing: Giant wolf spiders. Vengeful shades. Bony fylgja. And … Gorbesh line soldiers. There may have been a Gorbesh Commander as well, because I saw a Gorbesh commander’s hat in Town Green North. I’m not sure what other creatures may have been around.
Initial reports from the gwethdesuan also indicate that a tower is back up north of Langenfirth. Whether this refers to the Gorbesh fortress that has been there since Red Winter, or an addition to it, I do not know, since I have not been there to see it.
The fylgja chanted "Ashwemt fetches" as part of their foul ritual rhymes, and with those words, they name their summoner. Ponlakh Ashwemt is at his treachery again.
The attacks, so far as I know, were centered on Crossing’s Town Green and moved to outside the bank. At one point a Human crier warned that they were heading towards the temple. To my knowledge no invaders reached the temple ruins. Thankfully!
Shortly after the last of the invaders were dispatched and the dead tended to, the clouds over Crossing parted. The time, I think, was around midnight or so.
Thus went one awful afternoon and evening of terror in the Crossing.
A few hours after the Gorbesh, Death Spirits and dobek moruryn take a dreadful toll on people gathered in front of the bank. After that, there was an uneasy quiet among the people as they wondered what could happen next.
