Uprising of Angry Spirits Begins Night of Terror in Crossing
(Crossing, Zoluren: 225 Arhat 354)
It began in the cemetary as a loud group gathered over the proper resting places of so many previous citizens of the area. Like so many other times, this group had gathered to spill blood; each other’s blood.
These self-styled "tournaments" have been gaining more and more popularity in the Province among a certain ilk of people. For whatever reason, they have been holding them in the cemetary, with about as much regard for those buried there as they show regard for life in their actions.
But this night, this night the Spirits would not suffer it.
According to one of the spectators, 75 Death Spirits rose up and surrounded the group, locking the gates so they could make no mistake and jeering at them, telling them they must die.
Many did.
Halfwa’s joined the Death Spirits, with fylgja’s and shades. This entire undead force spilled through the cemetary gates that someone managed to open, and towards the Crossing.
Heroes stood at the Northeast Gate, ready to defend the town to their deaths. Many fell to those deaths, but the forces were beaten back and the undead numbers dwindled.
That was when those who had on gwethdesuans heard the thoughts of the fell litch, Khasvah. He, too, told the people gathered at the cemetary that they were disturbing the peace and must die for it.
Khasvah summoned many more fell creatures, and was killed several times himself, but the battering around the Crossing, and soon inside of it continued. For the better part of two hours, death screams filled the air. The corpses stacked up everywhere as skunks, spiny drachynas, darvagers, and even Gorbesh forces joined the parade of the undead in taking their toll against us.
Thankfully there was an end to the creatures pouring over the Crossing, and at last all was quiet again, except for the moans of the injured and the ghostly voices of the dead. The clerics, paladins, and empaths worked for quite a while to help the fallen.
Will they think twice the next time they decide to disturb the rest of the dead with disdain for life? Let us hope so, or once again, the Crossing’s innocent inhabitants will be the victims; corpses littering the streets of town as death rains upon them.
