Faint, but Hopeful Response to Bard Gather
(Crossing, Zoluren: 225 Arhat 354)
As the Bards gathered in the small underground cavity of the Lute Room, the many voices lifted up in song after song. New songs specifically for the occasion had been prepared, other songs were inspired on the spot. I was too enthralled by all the music to count or even keep track of the performers, but there had to have been at least 20 songs of joy, love, and hope shared in that little room over the hours we attended the Gather.
And we believe it was a success, too, for from out of nowhere . . .
A strum of soft music resounded softly within the cavity, as if alive with all music created, just for a moment. The music suspended on a rising note —
The rising note repeated again….faintly….but most definitely there.
A soft chord of three notes, one sad, one rising and one wavering in pitch echoed in the distance, but the triad was not one to be forgotten. The sound of the music stayed within our memory…for something.
More songs there will be, more songs. Each of you reading here, ask a bard or two of your acquaintance to sing a song of hope for the young bardess Wren while you listen. Hold caring thoughts in your head, and pray for her. Pray for us, that we can somehow find her.
